Matthew making the most of NOW

Our participant has adapted his plan to turn a negative into a positive

Matthew in his one-to-one sessions during lockdown

When Matthew came to NOW Group in August 2020, his goal was very simple: he wanted in-job support that would help him make practical adjustments to do his job better and that would allow him to continue on a path of self-development.

He was subsequently assigned to the Workable NI programme, where he received support at work and also in one-to-one meetings with his Employment Officer, Niamh Rainey. Niamh noticed straight away that Matthew was very engaged with life at NOW Group and was taking a very proactive approach to his own future. This stood him in good stead when he was furloughed from his job and had extra time on his hands to make the most of NOW’s other services.

Most notably, Matthew completed NOW’s Money Management course, which he felt not only gave him extra motivation during lockdown, but also provided him with information that will have long-lasting benefits, particularly at Christmas and on special occasions.

We look forward to Matthew receiving continued support and training in the future as he pursues his single-minded mission to better himself.
