Through NOW Group’s Training & Jobs Academy Jonathan secured a placement at the Milewater Service Centre in Belfast and has been been volunteering there for the past few months.
The Milewater Service Centre is a facility which services, maintains and repairs the fleet of Glider (Belfast Rapid Transit) vehicles and Translink buses. Jonathan’s primary duties include professionally cleaning the buses and general yard work. Speaking on his time at Milewater, Jonathan says,"I have enjoyed working hard here and getting to work with the public transport. At the moment I am even wanting to extend a three-hour shift to four hours."
Ancillary Manager, Conor Rodgers, was full of praise for Jonathan, saying "He is a very hard-working young man. Jonathan has excelled in his role and is someone we are keen to continue to work with in the future."
The team have welcomed Jonathan with open arms, getting him involved in Christmas decorating at the office, and inviting him to attend the unveiling of the new Train Simulator at the Adelaide train depot! This opportunity has been of great importance to Jonathan, as his lifelong goal is to become a bus driver.
