With over 460 people attended Fandom Con – Now Group's first gaming convention celebrating autism proves to be a great success. There was a queue out the door for the first two hours of the event – thankfully the sun was shining all day.
FandomCon attendees got the opportunity to experience classic card games like Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh. The ever popular Dungeons and Dragons was also available to play throughout the event.
VR Headset were hugely popular with event participants, with many people trying them out for the first time. We also hosted a highly competitive game tournament that kicked off at 1pm with Mario Kart, Switch Sports and Smash Bros. The prizes of winner & runner-up trophies were up for grabs.
Later in the day we hosted a Cosplay competition, where 25 entries showed off their creativity and imagination. The competition was judged by members of Fandom. It was a tough decision to make, with ‘Halo Solider’ coming out as the triumphant winner.
There was a NOW Group and JAM Card stand at the event, with staff available to chat about the range of different services we offer. 87 JAM cards were given out throughout the day to event participants. Through our JAM Cards they will have the confidence to ask for just a minute of time and patience when out in public or throughout social situations.
After a great success, we are hoping to host further Fandom Con gaming conventions across the island of Ireland later in the year and to further expand our weekly Fandom Groups, particularly for teenagers. Join our mailing list today to get more information on our upcoming events.
